About Go For The Gold Running

Running NJ Shore Half Marathon The content of this site is based on
- my many years (decades) of running
- books, magazines and web articles
- movies and television shows
- talking with other experienced runners

For some, including myself, running isn't just an activity, it's a way of life. My running schedule is usually planned a week in advance. That doesn't mean I don't have time for other activities. But I make sure that there's always time in my busy schedule for my runs.

Growing up, I used running as a way to improve my performance in other sports. It wasn't until my adult years that I started running for the sake of running.

For years I just ran for fun, but a local 5k caught my attention. I won my age group, motivating me to enter more. I continued to place near the top of my age group in most races, and even near the top of the overall category in some small races.

In my 40's, I entered my first half marathon, the Jersey Shore Half Marathon. I came in 22nd out of almost 700 runners, 4th in my age group and 5th of all masters runners. That was followed by my first marathon, the Philadelphia Marathon. I finished it in a Boston Marathon qualifying time.

As many others, work and family obligations have limited my continued participation in races. But I've continued to run and will continue as long as my body lets me. As my children grow up, and work takes less of my time, I plan on returning to racing. I can't wait!!!
